About The Product

Roof Protect Terra Primer Plus is formulated to deliver strong adhesion, robust surface hardness and enhanced resistance to scratching, UV exposure, weathering, moisture, salt spray, oils, acids and alkalis. 

Its low-VOC, water-based formulation allows for easy clean-up and same-day recoating under suitable application and drying conditions. Terra Primer Plus is clear to opaque white in appearance and is supplied ready for use without tinting. 

When applied as part of the complete Roof Protect coating system, it provides a durable barrier coat that helps protect terracotta roof tiles and supports the long-term performance of the finished membrane system. 

Terra Primer Plus is also suitable for roofs used for rainwater collection after the first wash or rainfall, subject to the required preparation, application and maintenance procedures. 

Designed For 

Glazed and unglazed terracotta roof tiles.  

Coverage 

The recommended coverage rate is approximately six square metres per litre. 

Available in 15-litre drums. 

Actual coverage may vary depending on the roof profile, tile condition, surface porosity, application method and environmental conditions. 

Clean Up 

Terra Primer Plus is water-based and can be cleaned from application equipment using water before the product dries. 

Install

1. Inspection: The roof will be professionally inspected to assess the condition of the terracotta tiles and identify any repairs or preparation required.  
2. Cleaning: Moss, lichen, dirt, grime and other contaminants will be removed using the appropriate cleaning treatment and high-pressure washing process. Downpipes and water outlets must be disconnected or isolated, and suitable water-reclamation measures must be implemented during cleaning.  
3. Repairs: Broken, chipped or defective tiles will be replaced or repositioned as required. Ridge caps, hips, gables and valleys may also be re-bedded and re-pointed using suitable Industrial Roof Coatings products.  
4. Priming: One (1) coat of Roof Protect Terra Primer Plus will be applied evenly at the prescribed coverage rate using commercial airless spray equipment.  
5. Coating: Two (2) coats of Roof Protect membrane will be applied at the prescribed coverage rate, allowing the required drying time between coats. Application must only proceed under suitable temperature, humidity and weather conditions.  
6. Finishing Touches: Following application, the completed roof will be inspected and any necessary finishing work completed.  

Warranty

The product warranty is provided by Industrial Roof Coatings, the manufacturer of Roof Protect, that the product will perform as expected for a certain period after it is applied to the roof. The length and terms of the warranty can vary depending on the final product used.

Typically, an Industrial Roof Coatings product warranty will cover defects in the product, such as premature cracking or peeling, as well as the failure of the product to adhere correctly to the roof surface. However, the warranty may not cover damage or problems caused by external factors, such as storm damage, improper installation, animal or chemical damage, post-restoration building works or neglect. Previously painted roofs cannot be covered by warranty as Roof Protect would be adhering to other paint rather than the roof surface.

To qualify for the warranty, the product must be applied according to Industrial Roof Coatings’ instructions and by an Accredited Applicator and qualified professional. The warranty may also require periodic inspections and maintenance to ensure the product performs as expected.

Suppose an issue arises with the Roof Protect during the warranty period. In that case, Industrial Roof Coatings will typically provide a remedy, which may include repair or replacement of the product up to the original purchase price. It’s essential to read and understand the terms of the warranty before purchasing a roof restoration product to ensure that you know what is covered and what is not.
